Description

The TBL2 tool offers complete carbon, footprint and triple bottom line accounting for companies and organisations, based on Nobel-Prize-winning, environmental input-output analysis. You can create a comprehensive sustainability report based on unique, full upstream scope 3 (supply chain) accounting of greenhouse gases, triple bottom line and/or ecological footprint accounting of your organisation.

Your organisation’s financial accounts are the main data source for the analysis, together with on-site impact data. Additional data collection effort is not required. The outputs are powerful diagrams and tables forming the backbone of a comprehensive sustainability report. Sector benchmarking, production layer decomposition, supply chain analysis and quantification of shared responsibility are available for all indicators. Triple bottom line accounting routinely covers social, economic and environmental indicators and enables decision-makers to quantify trade-offs between different facets of sustainability.

The critical advantage of TBL2 is that it includes both the direct (on-site, internal, immediate) effects as well as the indirect (off-site, external, upstream) effects associated with a large and distant web of supply paths. This includes an easy and full upstream scope 3 (supply chain) accounting of greenhouse gases - a feature not offered by any other tool on the market! Assessment of your organisation’s indirect impacts is critical because it enables meaningful benchmarking, avoids loopholes in reporting and informs about real risk. It also removes boundary problems. You have the capacity to reward and encourage the greening of supply chains and increase your organisation’s attractiveness to customers.

The 2010 release of TBL2 for the United Kingdom is now available and features:

* Distinction of 246 economic sectors and product groups

* Basket of all six major greenhouse gases (CO2, CH4, N2O, HFC, PFC, SF6)

* New ecological footprint land types in accordance with GFN standard

* Environmental data from 2007, economic (input-output) data from 2004

* Model data adaptation to current financial year and previous years

* Continuous update to most recent year for economic and environmental data available

Powerful supply chain analysis and sustainability tool By Alison Smith
StarStarStarStarStar

This tool is unique in its ability to calculate supply chain impacts using national input-output data. You just have to enter purchase and sales information from company accounts, together with on-site impact data such as energy use, to generate a complete analysis of impacts down the whole supply chain. The tool also covers a full set of sustainability impacts, including employment, GDP and ecological footprint. The only drawback is that it is not currently set up to deal with CRC compliance. However, the tool is currently applied by various consultants who partner with CENSA, and the consultants can simultaneously produce a CRC analysis using a different tool, and present results seamlessly to the customer.
