Description

IIASA has developed a coherent international comparison of greenhouse gas mitigation efforts among Annex I Parties in 2020. This web site provides interactive access to an on-line calculator, underlying input data, and documentation of the methodology. Users can simulate various mitigation targets and carbon market situations involving individual Annex I and non-Annex (pooled) parties and compare efforts. Also underlying assumptions on technologies and economic development can be reviewed. Compared to McKinsey these data are free, and based on a systemic analysis with alternative baseline projections.

good for international policy makers By IIASA

I particularly like the online calculator MEC. It's highly relevant to the negotiations and shows that the actual mitigation costs are quite low, some countries will actually benefit from mitigation. The good thing with this tool is you can check all the raw data that go into the model and if you do you can see that these guys are not some green freaks but base their analysis on lots of published sources. Easy to use with often surprising results. A most for mitigation negotiators.
